Globetrotters stop and pop at Verizon Arena

The world famous Harlem Globetrotters brought their 88 year history to Verizon Arena in North Little Rock, Tuesday, February 25, complete with Little Rock's own Globetrotter Geese Ausbie, who received a nice reception from the audience as he was introduced. Ausbie was know as the "Clown Prince of Basketball." He was dressed in suit and tie and followed the action from the bench. Ausbie will turn 76 on April 25th.The Globetrotters faced the World All Stars and beat them 92-84.The Globetrotters are keeping up with the times, using social media to let the fans have a say in the rules. In fact, their tour is called "Fans Rule."The new rules were "The Hot Hand Jersey," with the player wearing it receiving double points. "The Trick Shot Challenge," where each team can throw three flags on the floor and perform the shot the opposing coach calls for. "The Make or Miss," with each quarter starting with just two players from each team on the floor. An additional player enters the game after one team scores. The player missing the shot must leave the game. Globetrotter player Big Easy was a fan favorite, dancing to the YMCA, talking to the ladies, men and kids. The routine water and purse bits were performed as well as bed races. TNT was introduced as the ninth female in Globetrotter history.DJ Ramsey, team mascot Globie and Big D the dancer keep the fans supercharged the entire night. At the end of the game, the audience was invited to come down on the floor for autographs. Clean family fun can still be done. Just ask any Globetrotter.
