California: A 20 year old man who coerced a woman into prostitution was sentenced 3 years in jail. According to the police report, he used Craigslist to advertise commercial sex of two women that he was holding as sex slave. Police investigation began after a victim's mother received information that the man was holding her daughter as sex salve at a local hotel. He was charged with human trafficking and pandering.
Canada: A 27 year old man was charged with forcing a teenager into prostitution. During the summer 2010, he befriended the 17 year old victim and forced her into prostitution.
Missouri: Experts step up to fight against human trafficking in the state. According to the report, Saint Louis and Kansas City are hubs of human trafficking in the U.S. In particular, Saint Louis ranks third highest human trafficking rate.
Wyoming: Two ringleaders of Missouri based human trafficking scheme are now on trial in Kansas City. They hired 13 immigrants in Kansas CIty and sent them to Wyoming and other states. Among 200 witnesses, some are hotel managers. The defendants are facing multiple charges including racketeering, labor trafficking, identity theft, etc.
Texas: New report shows that 25% of the human trafficking victims enter the U.S. soil through Texas. The state senator held a summit in San Antonio in order to raise awareness of human trafficking. She said the common misconception is that human trafficking victims are limited to illegal immigrants, but not U.S. citizens.
EUROPE
UK: Belfast human trafficking case is on trial. Four individuals who are charged with trafficking women for sex allegedly made over $300,000. They brought women and transsexuals to prostitute themselves in Belfast. Much of the evidence was based on two women testifying that they worked as sex slaves.
ASIA
India: Goa police arrested five individuals for running a trafficking ring last week. Police also rescued eleven girls from other providence who were trafficked to Goa. The arrest was made during the police raid on a beauty parlor in Goa. Police is further investigating the case.
AFRICA
Malawi: Two Mozambicans were convicted of trafficking Malawian children. Police arrested the two individuals while they were transporting the children from Malawi. The children in the age between 12 and 15 were destined to work at tobacco estate according to the report. Both of the Mozambicans were sentenced to 1 year in jail and fined 327 dollars.
