NORTH AMERICA

Nevada: Law enforcement exposes rampant child prostitution on Reno street. Many of the victims are as young as 13 and 14 years old who are pimped by a 19 or 20 year old man. Also, many pimps bring girls from Sacramento, California and pimp on them over weekends at hotels on Reno street and leave. One police testified that he runs into underage girls prostituting on the street six or seven times a year. 

Canada: MP Joy Smith raises concerns over young girls selling sex on Craigslist. She said that she has found some advertisements selling girls as young as 12 and 13 for sex online. She also stated that such advertisement is the reason to fight against child sex trafficking in Canada. 

Minnesota: Task force tackles human trafficking in Minneapolis. Its effort includes public awareness and training law enforcement individuals deal with crime. For the past five years, the task opened more than 50 cases and filed charges against 70 people. 

Ohio: Human trafficking bill passes the Senate. The bill will make human trafficking a stand alone felony in the state. It will also improve ability of law enforcement and prosecutors to punish traffickers. 

Oregon: An advocate say that traffickers are targeting middle class daughters. Experts say 85% of the victims are female as young as 11 years old, and traffickers are funneling victims up and down I-5 corridor for sex. The advocate also warned parents that traffickers are using older boys to prey on young girls and 30% of trafficking is by the victims' relatives. 

LATIN AMERICA

Argentina: A new study says that Argentina is a new hub of human trafficking. According to the study, over 700 women from various countries have been forced into prostitution for the past year and a half. Also, the study showed that trafficking of women and children has grown alarmingly for the past 10 years. It also stated that trafficking rings may be tied to international organized crimes from Russia, China, and Mexico. 

EUROPE

UK:  A member of human trafficking gang who forced Czech women into sex slavery was sentenced to three years in jail. He admitted to take part in bringing two women into UK after persuading the victims to participate sham marriages in Ireland. He also forced the two women into prostitution by changing locations throughout UK after the victims' arrival. 

AFRICA

Nigeria:  The authority announced that there were 8 convictions of human traffickers including a 70 year old woman. It also stated that some of the high profiling cases involved senior officials. One of the cases involved high officials is still under investigation according to the authority.
