Stylish green events are popping up all over San Francisco this fall, and this October is proving especially prolific. The month kicks off with the San Francisco Vegan Fashion Show, the first of it’s kind in the city. Global Green will follow the stylish affair later this month with their annual Gorgeous and Green Gala. Happening October 23rd on San Francisco’s Treasure Island, the Gala promises a Mad Men themed night of fashion, celebrities and eco-consciousness.
The Gorgeous and Green Gala will be hosted by actress Alison Brie who is known for her roles on Mad Men and Community; Mayor Gavin Newsom and First Lady Jennifer Siebel Newsom will co-host alongside Brie. The night will feature a runway exhibition produced by Lily Achatz and Clarissa Nicosia, showcasing a number of vintage and eco designers. To add a bit of visible eco-flair, Design Ecology—which specializes in combining plant life with urban structures— will provide a “living wall” vegetation system to literally “green up” the ambiance.
Entrance to the event does not come cheap- tickets range from $250 for general admission to $5,000 for “Preferred Patrons.” Price tag aside, the event is a fabulous fundraiser to support Global Green’s mission to fight global climate change through green affordable housing, greener schools, and green policy efforts.
So what do you think? Will you dole out the cash to dress up and rub elbows with the crème de la green?
