Jeff Jarrett is at it again, and he is bringing a new wrestling promotion into the mix. TNA founder decided to make his announcement less than one day after WWE "WrestleMania XXX," and they simply felt it was the best time. On April 7, 2014, it was announced the Global Force Wrestling had come into existence and would compete to be the number two promotion in the world, according to SB Nation.
For weeks, Jarrett has been hinting that something big was coming, and it was very expected that it would be another wrestling promotion. Still, no-one knew for sure and they just had to keep waiting it out.
While Jarrett knows that overtaking WWE would be one of the hardest feats in existence; he is going to launch his effort into becoming the number two wrestling promotion in the world.
"[WWE] have built a brand over the last 50, 60 years. And truly, [WrestleMania] weekend is the perfect example of just how global their brand is. Professional wrestling has been around since the advent of television. There is definitely room, space for a brand new promotion to come on the scene. And we're going to put out the very best product that we can. Our mission statement is going to be, right at the very top, that we are going to put out a professional wrestling product that listens to the fans, engages the fans. We are going to immerse ourselves with the wrestling fan and that is going to be first and foremost."
New announcements will be happening over the next few weeks revealing more information about the new wrestling promotion. Those announcements will include some of the talent coming in as well as a possible launch date for Global Force Wrestling.
As of now, Jeff Jarrett and his wife Karen are the only two executives announced as being involved with the company. Country music star Toby Keith has been rumored to be involved from time to time, but he is not listed as such at this time.
