Troy and Saratoga Springs have their ChowderFests, but in Glens Falls, stew will do.
The 3rd annual StewFest, which again will be held downtown on Glen Street, has been set for 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, October 19.
Organizers are encouraging a throw-down among restaurants from the region "to showcase their skills with their own varieties of stew."
Participants will make 6 to 10 gallons of their best homemade stews. Attendees will purchase per-taste tickets. The restaurant with the most tickets sold by the end of the day wins. Added attractions are live music, face painting for kids, and strolling street entertainers.
