A writer, on an ironically named site, Strategic Marketing, posted an article that claims Glenn Beck is rumored to be starting his own TV Channel.
I say ironically because he claims that a Glenn Beck TV channel would be a nonstarter.
As painfully embarrassing as it must be for the blog owner, the author of this article goes on to say that, Oprah did it successfully because she has four key advantages over Beck, in that Oprah is:
- associated with entertainment, not politics
- universally liked
- been around for a long time
- has a proven track record of minting money for those who invest in her
He goes on to repeat the smears of the lame stream media on Glenn Beck.
Unfortunately for him, the author failed to look up these facts about Beck, for himself:
- Glenn Beck drew a crowd of over 500,000 to the National Mall in Washington DC on August 28, 2010, with his Restoring Honor Rally, a non-political call for Americans to honor heroes in the US military.
- Glenn Beck's tours sell out across the country
- Glenn Beck's radio program is the 3rd most listened to radio show with 8 million viewers
- Glenn Beck is the first author in history to have books debut at #1 on 4 different NYT Bestseller lists
- Glenn Beck is responsible for books becoming bestsellers (besides his own) with a brief mention of the book on his show.
And last but not least, Glenn Beck combines entertainment with enlightenment with The Glenn Beck Program and his ratings as of Monday, March 21 are as follows:
5 pm
FNC GLENN BECK 2,334,000
As opposed to the dismal ratings of his competition:
CNN SITUATION ROOM 963,000
MSNBC CHRIS MATTHEWS 663,000
Glenn Beck is a gold mine (not Goldline) and if there were ever to be a Glenn Beck TV Channel, it would do as well, if not better than The Glenn Beck Program on radio and TV, combined. That means 4 times better than shows on at the same time as The Glenn Beck Program.
Sadly, this strategic marketer ends the poorly researched piece by saying:
As a major programming concept, a Glenn Beck TV Channel would be a nonstarter.
Is it no longer a requirement of journalists to research the subject of their pieces? Obviously, for the author of that article, it is not.
