Glenn Beck: "Technology is authoritarian porn"

During the broadcast of his February 6th, 2014 TV program, Glenn Beck devoted his monologue to warning about the dangers of developing technology, which he described as being "authoritarian porn."

This from the man who's entire Blaze network would not exist were it not for recent technological advancements.

This time, the object of Beck's obsession is a report that, following the death of Philip Seymour Hoffman, the actor's role in the next Hunger Games movie would be completed digitally.

"There is no death," said Beck. "Is it not a little disturbing?"

As usual, this lead to Beck insisting that the government is growing more large and more controlling.

"You, your children, and your grandchildren will be at their mercy," Beck warned. "Wake up! Wake up!"

Beck's fear of technology has been well-established over the years. In October, Beck blurted out during a discussion that was supposed to be about the Affordable Care Act that the terminators were right around the corner.

Then again, Beck is also well known to be resentful of anything that could be described as progressive. Which, in Beck's case, is literally anything; he has even insisted that George W. Bush (whom he used to be a cheerleader for) was a progressive.

The concept of digitally inserting a deceased actor into modern footage is hardly new; John Wayne came back from the dead to sell Coors beer over a decade ago. Beck just didn't make a stink about it then because the market for selling libertarian paranoia had not yet been discovered.
