Glenn Beck sponsors getting smaller and more partisan

Glenn Beck's advertising potential seems more and more restricted.

Despite Glenn Beck's larger audience by all appearances he seems to be struggling in getting respectable sponsors.  After Beck's infamous comment in which he called Barack Obama a "racist" he has been the target of a boycott from Color of Change and Media Matters.  Thirty-six sponsors including big pocket companies like AT&T and Wal-Mart have now stopped sponsoring Beck in response to the boycott.

Beck defenders point to the fact that despite this loss of sponsorship his viewership has never been higher.  However, it benefits one very little to have large viewership if no one wants to sponsor you.  I am sure many infamous people could get a large T.V. audience by having a show but if no one is willing to sponsor them this means very little.

Beck has managed to maintain enough sponsors to keep going but his episode today showed that he may be struggling.  Included in his air time today were two commercials from The National Republican Trust, a clearly partisan organization who would not be affected by the boycott from Color of Change and Media Matters.  Tea Party Express and Fox ran three more commercials on Beck's program so that makes five commercials in which Beck had to basically rely on his own party to provide him support.

Finally, Beck has been forced to replace some of his larger sponsors with much smaller companies and organizations.  Wal-Mart has been replaced with the company that makes the Windshield Wonder.  AT&T is gone and now replaced with personal injury firm commercials from firms like Binder & Binder.  This is ironic since Beck likely favors tort reform that would take money from Binder & Binder.  This is more of an insult to Binder & Binder than Beck I believe.

Despite his insistence that he will be unaffected by the boycott it is hard to imagine Beck being able to continue with such a partisan and small sponsor list.  Beck has in fact backed away from the racism themes in his earlier episodes possibly in response to sponsor pressure.  Time will tell if Beck is able to outlast and withstand the pressure from the liberal organizations.

Keep up the stories about Back. Keep writing about the advertisers and keep calling him names.

I am curious though as to why people like you who do the writing NEVER NEVER attempt to factually dispute anything he says.

    But keep it up anyway.

Extremely poor journalism. Van Jones is exactly who and what Beck says he is. Disprove that.

Ryan Witt, I cant believe people keep paying you to write. Can you post something original or even remotely insightful? Seriously, you just keep droning on and on and on with speculation and never address the facts.

    You sir, are an shrill.

Take a look at the sponsors and who they contributed their money to in the past....hmmmm
    1. Progressive Insurance: 8.5 million given to the ACLU
    2. Verizon/ATT/Spring: That = Communication Workers of America. Go to their site cwa-union.org/workers/ and you'll see a AFL-CIO logo on their page. 99% of their $26.7 million were given to Democrats.
    3. Walmart: Two years ago, Wal-Mart joined with the SEIU, the country's largest union, to call for affordable health care for all Americans by 2012. I'm sure it has nothing to do with Glenn voicing his facts about the wonderful SEIU group.
    4. UPS: Look out here....Teamsters.....also apart of AFL-CIO. Teamsters have donated 92% of their 27.4 million to democrats. BTW: FedEx donates 58% to repubs so anyone who sees this - ship via FedEx in protest of UPS's protest to Beck :-)

While he is not the finest journalist in the areas of spelling and punctuation, Mr. Witt is entirely accurate in his measurement of Mr. Beck. His articles are densely populated with instances and examples of Glenn Beck's follies and distortions, despite your inaccurate claims to the contrary. I would also encourage you to recall that might does not make right, and 3 millions people listening to an idiot makes him no less foolish.
