Glenn Beck was rejected by Current TV. The television channel was recently purchased by Al-Jazeera. Prior to that transaction, Beck's "The Blaze" explored options to purchase the channel, according to a Jan. 3, 2013 report by Yahoo! News. The problem is that there weren't any options available, at least not for Beck.
The news came to light after Glenn Beck tweeted that he was rejected by Current TV. He wrote, "Before Al-Jazeera bought Current TV, TheBlaze looked into buying it but we were rejected by progressive owners."
The channel told "The Blaze," that " . . . the legacy of who the network goes to is important to us and we are sensitive to networks not aligned with our point of view." It may come as no surprise that Beck is "not aligned" with Current TV's "point of view," but it is shocking that the channel felt Al-Jazeera was a better fit. Glenn Beck was rejected by Current TV, but the channel accepted $500 million from Al-Jazeera. Of that whopping sum, Al Gore will receive $100 million.
Founded in 1996, Al-Jazeera is an Arabic-speaking channel located in Qatar, financed by Quatar. It is known for its alleged anti-US and anti-Israel bias and its allegiance to Osama bin Laden and Al Qaeda. It is the only independent, professional news and information television channel of the Arab world, and its mission is to share their point of view with the Western world. The purchase of Al Gore's Current TV will certainly put Al-Jazeera in a unique position to do just that.
