Glenn Beck: Obamacare violates separation of church & state

See also

No, this isn't another complaint about the Affordable Care Act's contraception mandate. For Glenn Beck, that would be far too logical.

According to Beck, the ACA violates the separation of church & state because Obamacare itself is a religion.

In Beck's very creative interpretation, mandating that citizens purchase health insurance is essentially requiring "tithing to their church; the church of man, the church of Washington, DC."

Yes, he actually did say that.

"They are making you pay tithing," said Beck, "and bow down to that God and if not, you are an illegal citizen. That is what they were talking about with the separation of church and state. You are not forced into any man's belief. That's the difference. And here we have a group of people, these fascists - let's start calling these progressives what they are: they are fascists."

. . . . .

Glenn. . . I don't even know where to begin with you today.

Let's start with the obvious: What God? Where in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is there a provision that says anything is God?

Second, it doesn't say anyone without health insurance is "an illegal citizen." It is, at best, a misdemeanor.

Finally, and most critically, the only "belief" being expressed in the Affordable Care Act is that everybody has the right to health insurance.

If your definition of "religion" is that broad -- if it only needs to express an idea for you to consider it a religion, then you could just as well argue that the separation of church and state is a violation of the separation between church and state.

I could elaborate even further on how stupid you are if I didn't feel like my IQ was dropping just trying to figure out how such a stupid notion could come out of someone who otherwise seems to have a fully functioning nervous system.

Cut the crap Glenn. This isn't funny anymore.
