Glenn Beck launches 10 million American watchdogs

On Monday, July 27, 2009, talk show commentator Glenn Beck will launch a program that calls for 10 million listeners to become political watchdogs to stop what he calls the government machinery.

Beck is the Conservative radio talk show host who also has his own TV program on Fox News Channel. His style has been described as a combination between the styles of fellow radio hosts Don Imus and Rush Limbaugh. He is the 3rd most listened to radio talk show host in the United States. Beck also has his own traveling stage show and has written three books. The second, An Inconvenient Book, reached the Top 10 on the New York Times Best Seller List and The Christmas Sweater, rose to number one.

His latest book, Common Sense, in which he writes about  Thomas Paine, who he says was an ordinary man who changed the course of history by penning Common Sense, the concise 1776 masterpiece in which, through extraordinarily straightforward and indisputable arguments, he encouraged his fellow citizens to take control of America's future -- and, ultimately, her freedom. Nearly two and a half centuries later, those very freedoms once again hang in the balance Beck revisits Paine's powerful treatise with one purpose: to galvanize Americans to see past government's easy solutions, two-part monopoly, and illogical methods and take back our great country.

Beck is asking that each person follow just one things. For example, he suggests that it can be gun legislation, or health legislation.  He says
You don't have to watch on all fronts, just pick the things that interests you the most.

When the listener hears about it on TV, he says just follow it. Then send what is learned to Beck.  That is all that is required to become a constitution watchdog.

Beck says that in a backlash against exposure, watchdogs should be prepared to be  be called a racist, a homophile, or a hate monger.

Beck ends the program with

Have no fear. No fear no more! Stand up! You know the truth. Stand for the truth because only the truth will set us free.

"Beck is asking that each person follow just one things. For example, he suggests that it can be gun legislation, or health legislation. He says You don't have to watch on all fronts, just pick the things that interests you the most."

"When the listener hears about it on TV, he says just follow it. Then send what is learned to Beck. That is all that is required to become a constitution watchdog."

    Then ends with:
"Beck says that in a backlash against exposure, watchdogs should be prepared to be be called a racist, a homophile, or a hate monger."
"Have no fear. No fear no more! Stand up! You know the truth. Stand for the truth because only the truth will set us free."

Shouldn't we all be constitutional watchdogs?

The statement: "backlash against exposure, watchdogs should be prepared to be be called a racist, a homophile, or a hate monger." Is clearly to target the fear and hate mongers.

Perfect example of the extreme right instigating the hate in this country.

fear, fear, fear...that's all the republican has. they sell it, the create it, then they give pep talks encouraging folks to fight it. here's one easy way to fight it...turn off fox news and start thinking for yourself.

it would seem the liberals are the one instigating hate. all they know how to do is call someone a raceist, moron, or a republican. they never have facts. just know how to call names. really doesn't say much for you, liberals.

The extreme people, left or right, do instigate hate but Glenn is not one of them. There is nothing hateful in what he said. He just said be prepared to be hated once you start speaking out. He should know being one of the most hated people liberals love to hate.

In response to a comment below. Why does watching a particular news station make is so you can't think for yourself? Shouldn't you want to hear all sides of an issue? I don't watch Fox News or any other cable news station. I have been fearful of the destruction of the constitution before I have ever heard of Glenn Beck. But I must not be thinking for myself.

HEY YOU PEOPLE AT THE WHITE HOUSE HAVENT YOU EVER HEARD OF THE CONSTITUTION!? OR MAYBE THIS TINY ANOYING THING CALLED THE BILL OF RIGHTS!?

  • TJG 2 years ago

Ever vigilant, I have carried our founding documents partly to confront crackpots who make false claims regarding the Constitution. Funny thing, when I took issue with Bush's litany of violations of our rights, I was accused by Beck/Limbaugh/Hannity of being unpatriotic. Now someone they do not like is in office, and it's OK to bash the President.

Glen Beck is completely unhinged. In listening to him starting 3 years ago to gain insight, I find he plays to a frighteningly large niche of fearful white people. Last year, Beck warned his audience to remain calm claiming inside authority (Cheney?) told him the Bush administration was prepping US troops to be deployed to keep the peace expecting an uprising of some sort on that particular weekend. Really, Mr Beck? Today, 07/29/09, he accuses the President of being a racist. Typical fear mongering tactic -- take your own characteristics, and ascribe them to those you fear so you can feel better about you delusions. Outrageous!

It's heartening indeed to see that liberals actually DO watch Fox News!

The President IS a racist. That is news to all of you. You knew that when you elected him. It is precisely why some of you did elect him.

Racist is probably the most misused word in America. You may recall how Colin Powell and Oprah were branded racist simply for endorsing, Barack Obama.

A racist by definition who thinks their skin tone makes them superior to others. Now that's thinking stupidly.

GLENN BECK ROCKS!!! He is a very smart man! These stupid liberals and democrats who are saying that the protests of Republicans and people who are opposed to Obama's health plan (which is outrageously idiotic and shouldn't be passed) are PLANNED.
WE NEED TO STAND UP AND FIGHT THIS! IF WE FIGHT THIS HEALTH CARE PLAN TOGETHER, CONGRESS WILL BE INTIMIDATED. WE NEED TO RISE AS ONE AND STAND UP FOR THE FREEDOM OF OUR COUNTRY!!!
How about Obama and Congress take this health care plan for themselves, huh??? If it's good enough for US, it's good enough for THEM! We don't need to be on this health care plan if he ISN'T!
How would you like to be 75, need a knee replacement, and then be told you're too old and worthless to be given it?!?! That's what's going to happen on this despicable health care plan! Obama doesn't care about us! He isn't going to take this health care plan, nor is he going to make congress or his family take it!
COME ON PEOPLE!!! WE NEED TO STAND UP AND FEND FOR OURSELVES
