Fox News commentator Glenn Beck will broadcast his final Fox New Channel program today as he launches a new endeavor that will utilize the latest communication technology to reach broader audiences, as well as immersing himself in projects that he says actually provide solutions to the nation's ills rather than just talk about them. During the final episodes of the show, Beck has focused on issues he claims are of utmost importance. One of those issues is gun rights, which he highlighted yesterday. In light of the fact that the United Nations, the Obama Administration, and extremist Leftwing members of Congress are now calling for new gun control measures, Beck declared, 'Do not let them take your guns.'
In defense of his exclamation, Beck cited a litany of examples from history pointing to the fact that tyrannical governments always seek to disarm the populace. From Lenin and Stalin to Hitler, from Chairman Mao to Castro, totalitarian governments--both communist and fascist--seek to obliterate any possibility that citizens who are forced to live under oppressive conditions will rise up in defiance and defend themselves against treacherous, cruel, and often murderous government thugs.
From an historical standpoint, Beck is 100% correct. Had Polish Jews, for example, been armed, and had they been willing to use those firearms against the brutal aggressors from Germany, then the Holocaust may have been stopped. But the Poles, and the German people, had been disarmed. One of the first things Hitler accomplished upon assuming the position of supreme dictator was to enact gun registration. Then, he confiscated the guns that had been registered.
Today, in America, voices within government, the courts, and the media, claim that the nation needs draconian new gun control laws 'in order to stop terrorists and criminals.' The U.S. already has gun registration. The next step is to handcuff gun shows. The next is to outlaw private sales of guns, from citizen to citizen. This slow, incremental approach is designed to lead to the repeal of the Second Amendment at some point.
In a stunning article at The Hill, Congressman Elijah Cummings, D-Maryland, has released a 26-page report calling for massive and sweeping new gun control measures. One of the reasons cited by the Cummings Report for the renewed calls for gun control is the now-infamous ATF gun smuggling scandal, in which ATF agents ran U.S. guns into Mexico and placed them into the hands of Mexican drug cartels.
Meanwhile, over in the Senate, anti-gun activists such as Charles Schumer, D-NY, Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., and Shelton Whitehouse, D-RI, are mounting a similar effort against guns.
Instead of fearlessly pursuing blatant criminal activity within the Department of Justice and its 'Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Fireams, and Explosives,' House and Senate Democrats intend to grandstand to shift the focus to the need for gun control--which was the primary motivating factor behind the government's sordid and illegal gun smuggling program to begin with. No matter that the scheme was botched and then outed by ATF whistleblowers. The purveyors of government tyranny intend to double down on their despicable lie that 'U.S. guns are arming the Mexican drug cartels.'

But in spite of the government being caught with its pants down, Democrats who still control the U.S. Senate are determined not to allow the facts to thwart their tyrannical and unconstitutional attempts to disarm the citizens.
