A growing number of Republican politicians and pundits have come out in favor of same-sex marriage. You can add former Fox News personality Glenn Beck to that list.
During an interview Monday with Penn Jillette, Beck stated,
Let me take the pro-gay marriage people and the religious people. I believe that there is a connecting dot there that nobody is looking at, and that's the Constitution.
The question is not whether gay people should be married or not, the question is why is the government involved in our marriage?
Beck's statement came one day after George Will, a Conservative opinion writer, stated the opposition to gay marriage is dying.
Opinion polls are swinging towards acceptance of legalized same-sex marriage. Voters in Maryland, Maine, and Washington legalized gay marriage in November. Minnesota voters struck down a constitutional ban.
In 2010, Beck stated he did not view same-sex marriage as being detrimental to the American society.
