Not only has Color of Change been caught exaggerating the "big name" sponsors it has allegedly intimidated, and merely succeeded in boosting Beck's ratings and fanbase with all the "bad" publicity -- but FOX News isn't losing any actual revenue, either.
But don't take my word for it.
See what a decidedly non-rightwing media watcher has to say.
Mediate.com is most assuredly NOT a conservative spin site. Spend even a few moments at Mediate.com and you'll see that it is a pretty typical defacto-liberal leaning "media industry news" roundup.
Today, their Steve Krakauer reports that the Color of Change boycott of Glenn Beck is an:
admirable effort to get nearly 200,000 signatures of support, and continue to tally up companies refusing to touch Beck’s program and rhetoric. But to say it’s affecting Fox News is a mischaracterization. It’s just not…yet.
He continues:
Yet, despite a press release yesterday saying the contrary, Fox News continues to be unaffected financially by the boycott.
While companies are pledging to boycott Beck’s show, two simultaneous events are occurring. First, Beck’s show still has advertisers. They may be “Beachbody (creator of P90X Exercise Equipment), Egg Genie and Telebrands (creator of Jupiter Jack)” as Rucker points out in the press release, but they are still there. Beck’s program continues to draw enormous ratings, and advertisers must pay for the wide audience. And it’s not just a month-to-month comparison. When looking year-to-year, FNC at 5pmET is drawing well more than double the amount of viewers it was in 2008 (when the program was America’s Election HQ) – and at times nearly three times as many.
The other point is, Fox News is still not being boycotted as a network...
Krakauer goes on to echo points I've made earlier: that the folks at Color of Change don't understand how Big Media works, and probably couldn't tell a "day part" from a side part.
Note: Krakauer seems to want the boycott to succeed. But he's too honest to report that it isn't. Good for him. The media could use more reporters like that.

With all due respect, anyone that gives creditablity to the "Barnum and Bailey" circus barker Glenn Beck has my sympathy. He's a wanna be Rush Limbaugh who does not love America. He loves ginning up the far right fringes who believe that OUR President is the "anti-Christ", is NOT a U.S. Citizen, is Adolf Hitler reborn and is a hater of White People. It's so sad that a once respected Republican Party has been hijacked by individuals who are loading up on ammo and getting ready for Helter Skelter. The honorable Republican William Buckley had to expose the John Birch Society as being the crazies that they were and are, so...who amongst real Republicans will step up and expose the Limbaughs and Becks as being the agitators of hate that they are.
First of all:
1-Glenn Beck is not a Republican
2-Indiana University tallies the DC crowd at 1.7 million.
3-Gone...Van Jones, NEA director, Acorn on the run as well as other czars etc..
Where is Woodward and Bernstein, Jack Anderson, the old 60 Minutes, Edward R. Murrow etc?

Look around. 1.7 million people is only a mere fraction of the people they actually represent across this country. The rest of us were working/paying taxes and couldn't be there.
blamo: Correct on 1) Beck is a populist demagogue; if anyone carries the heritage of Hitler and Mussolini, it's Beck, although it would be more accurate to compare him to Father Coughlin.
2) You got a source for that Indiana Uinversity claim? Because I can't find in on any news site. The only thing out there is Prof. McPhail's comments about the inauguration.
there are several estimates ranging from 1.2 million - 2.0 million by different sources. Not to mention the video shots from overhead that can be compared to the inauguration crowds.
Head out of the sand please- denying the truth does not make it any less true.
@2+2: seems to make 10 in Tea Party math. Any realistic photo-analysis will give you 100,000 +/- 20 percent.

It's funny, all those who compare Beck to Hitler and the Nazi's:
Being political, loud, and popular does not a Nazi (or demigog) make.
-Nazis were socialists. Beck is not.
-Nazis seized power that did not belong to them. Beck argues against that.
-Nazi's expanded their government. Beck is against the expansion of government power and authority.
-Nazis were a political party. Beck is bipartisan in his disrespect of political parties.
-Nazi government took over businesses, or allowed businesses to continue under tight Nazi control. Beck believes in the seperation of corporation and state.
So Beck is no Nazi.
But reading that list, perhaps Obama is one.
Suggest you read some genuine history instead of the pseudo-conservative prattle about Nazis, Johnny 100.
They were "socialist" in name only, for starters.

Actually ACORN registered the dead, illegals, and foreign nationals for this one term senator. That is why the Dems will be desperate to re-channel those ACORN monies to another group of election cheaters in time for the next election.

Well, it ain't like they were proponents of free markets.
I do understand what you are saying, just because something is labeled something, doesn't mean it is what it is labeled.
But, based on reading maybe a dozen books on the Nazi regime (including the current one, a biography of Himmler focusing on his secret negotiations with the west to have Germany surrender and then install him as the new leader), I am convinced that they were left-wingers, part of a trend that included communism, fascism, and the New Deal in the US.

These front groups are themselves backed by ExxonMobil, Koch Industries, HealthFirst, and other corporate titans who aim to maintain their windfall profits under the status quo.

Detractors of Glenn Beck often site arguments like "less then one present of Americans watch him" or "he is looseing advertisers left and right" (should it be the goal of the media to apease corporate sponcers? Well if your the MSM... but I digress). And of course the non stop personal attacks and insults.
The fact Glenn's detractors cannot disprove his facts or how he strings together his facts to show the hidden Progressive agenda is the REAL STORY.
The Progressive Agenda, if left unchecked, will fundamentaly transform our country into something the vast majority of Americans would NEVER allow if it were presented openly. THIS IS WHY BECK RESONATES with so many Americans. For every American who watches his show there are 5 others, who through association, open their eyes to BHO's hidden progressive agenda.
