Glenn Beck
The saga of the Glenn Beck boycott has taken two new twists.
First: the UK supermarket chain Waitrose has pulled its ads from FOX News broadcasts in the UK, citing "customer concerns" about Beck's remarks describing President Barack Obama as a "'a guy who has a deep-seated hatred for white people or the white culture."
As I've explained time and again, pulling ads from a cable network like FOX News has no effect on that network's revenue, because they make their money from their cable subscribers, not from ad sponsors.
Second: a more surprising story emerged this week.
Dr. Ignatius Piazza is a fairly familiar figure to conservative media junkies and Second Amendment activists. His company, Front Sight, has offered gun training and self-defence programs for many years.
Dr. Piazza recently sent out an email to his large subscriber base, which read in part:
Premiere Radio Network, the radio home of Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck - that champions conservative values, the Second Amendment, and free enterprise- has REFUSED to run radio ads for my Greatest Course, Gear and Gun Giveaway because the word GUN is used in the ad!
It's true. After I have already provided Front Sight's world class Four Day Defensive Handgun Course and One Day 30 State Concealed Carry Permit Course for Pennies-on-the-Dollar and thrown in over 3,000 Springfield Armory XD Pistols at no charge to responsible Americans across the country, I decided to commit to deliver even more guns, but Premiere Radio Network, the radio home of Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck REFUSED the ads.

A very strange development, if you ask me. I see Front Sight ads all over conservative web sites like HotAir.com, to name a few. I can't imagine any loyal listener to conservative talk radio objecting to the use of the word "gun" in a radio spot!

You haven't explained cable ad revenues "time and again" because you just found out about them yourself. If you ever bothered to trace back the trail of waste and litter you leave in your wake you would have seen a fuller explanation of why advertising revenues are so important to News Corp.

I love Glenn Beck and will watch him for as long as he is on the air which I hope is a long long time. His book is number one and he is making millions like Rush Limbaugh. 7000 people showed up to see Glenn Beck in Seattle. He does not need the endorsement of some company in the UK. Kathy you are evil and hateful beyond words.

Actually - though I am likely politically opposite of Kathy, I think she is an attractive women!
That said, I have no doubt there will be a myriad of advertisers who will be "threatened" by special interest groups (Color of Change) but given the mass popularity of Glenn Beck's show, new advertisers will fill the void.
This whole Beck Advertisers affair is symptomatic of the problem with people. Somehow if advertisers chose NOT to sponsor a show deceases the validity of the commentator??

Ms. Shaidle is wrong about Fox making no money selling commercial air time, they make a bundle. That's hitting them right where it hurts the most.
And atta boy to the Premiere Radio Network. They did the right thing banning those gun ads. Definitely a step in the right direction.

Not all have to agree with Obama’s policies but Beck just bashes him just to bash him and then invokes race into his topics as much as possible to get whites to remember that"hey this guy is black”. Obama should be given a fair shot to fail or succeed because if he fails it will be blamed on the bigots and blind opposition of the right and he will get elected to another term anyway. Next republican that gets elected will never get he support of the non-white community because of the bigotry supported by the right, it would behoove them to slow down on the anti Obama rhetoric and try to appear as a fair minded opposition or the country will be perennially split along racial lines.
I have seen the adds and filed out the information for the "Free" stuff being offered. I think it is a scam as 38 concealed permits are no better than one... unless you believe you will have one confiscated for illegal activity. Additionally you are told you need to pay $1,000's for stuff that would normally cost $5,000+.
Anyone that has been around the block knows that you can obtain firearms training required for a carry/concealed-carry permit for less than $150 and the actual permit application seldom costs over $200. So I support this network in pulling what in my opinion amounts to nothing more than the fleecing of an uninformed panicking 2nd amendment culture.
