Glendive Schools Announce Superintendent Finalists

The Glendive Unified School Board has announced four finalists for the Superintendent of Schools. Current superintendent Jim Germann announced his intended retirement last year and then extended his tenure by one year as the board continued their search for a replacement.

The finalists all have strong educational backgrounds along with experience in administration and leadership. The candidates include Robert Connors, Ross Farber, Jill Louters, and Brad Moore.

Connors is currently a Junior High Principal in Stevensville, Montana and has held that position since 2005. His previous experience includes positions as a teacher and High School Vice‐Principal in Stevensville along with 13 years in the Laurel Schools and 2 years in both Choteau and Butte. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Education from the University of Montana and a Masters in Education with an emphasis in Administration and Supervision from University of Montana.

Farber is in his 15th year as Principal of Washington Middle School in Glendive, MT. His previous experience includes 8 years as a Principal in New Castle, Wyoming and 4 years as an Assistant Principal in Sturgis, South Dakota along with 7 years of prior teaching experience. Farber holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education /Industrial Arts from Black Hills State College and a Masters in Educational Administration from South Dakota State University.

Louters is currently completing a Doctorate in Educational Leadership at St. Mary’s University in Minneapolis. Her previous experience includes 8 years teaching in Minnesota at the New Dominion Academy in Austin, MN and in the Cambridge‐ Isantis School District in Cambridge, MN. In addition she has 8 years experience as a Middle School principal in Faribault, MN and worked for Minnesota State University – Mankato as faculty in their teacher preparation program. Louters holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Studies Education from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN and a Masters in Educational Leadership from Minnesota State University– Mankato.

Moore is currently in his 7th year as the Superintendent of Richey Public Schools in Richey, Montana. His previous experience includes 4 years teaching Ag Ed at Sweet Grass County High School, 1 year teaching Ag Ed to grades 7‐12 in Big Sandy, MT and 6 years teaching Ag Ed in grades 8‐12 at Carter County High School. Moore holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Education from Montana State University and a Masters in Educational Leadership also from MSU.

As part of the interview process, each candidate will have an opportunity to meet with the community in an informal setting and the community will be able to observe the formal board interviews.

Connors and Louters will participate in day long interviews on Monday, February 6 and Farber and Moore on Tuesday, February 7.

Between 3:40pm and 4:40pm on each day the community will get ½ hourrr with each of two candidates at the Coffee Den in Glendive and from 6pm to 9pm the same same two candidates will each undergo a 90 minute interview with the board in the DCHS auditorium with the community invited to observe.

The Board is looking forward to the interviews and selecting the best candidate to lead the Glendive Public Schools. Strong leadership and a commitment to excellence in education are important to the Board and they believe that these candidates possess those skills.
