Glen Rock defeats Kittatinny in the NJSIAA State Tournament

Glen Rock defeated Kittatinny 41-36 in the Semifinal round of the NJ State Girls' Basketball Tournament.

Kittatinny has a strong inside game. Their posts know how to post up and use the back door. Kelsey Osborne started the game by hitting a nice shot from the corner. The next time down Glen Rock came out to guard her and she made a nice pass inside to the post who finished. Osborne finished with 2 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, and 4 points.

Kittatinny had a lead of 12-6 at the end of the first quarter when Glen Rock's Sophie Lederer passed to Samantha Alba who scored a 3 pointer at the buzzer to make the score 12-9. Samantha Alba had a good outside game, ending with 2 rebounds and 12 points, three of which were three pointers.

Immediately to start the second quarter Lederer attacked the basket and hit Alex Beilman on the outside. Beilman hit the three to tie the game 12-12. Glen Rock earned the lead and had it at the half, 19-16.

Kittatinny's Nicole Catella did a great job drawing fouls against the Glen Rock defense. She finished with 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals, and 13 points. Kittatinny earned the lead back during the third quarter, the score 32-23 entering the fourth.

Glen Rock worked to make some adjustments, getting steals and pushing the ball up court. With 6:22 remaining in the game Glen Rock had caught up, 32-30, when there was an official timeout called for an injured Kittatinny player. Upon returning to the floor after the official's timeout, Glen Rock stole the ball and scored again. With 5:33 on the clock Glen Rock's Beilman attacked the basket and scored over a defender, earning the lead, 34-32.

Sophie Lederer had an outstanding game as a distributor, scorer, and floor leader. Regardless of the score, she remained composed throughout the game, communicating to teammates and working the seams to get them the ball. Lederer ended with 2 rebounds, 6 assists, 1 steal, and 9 points.

With a score of 36-32, Glen Rock began to run a delay to shave time off the clock. They were able to use 30 seconds before Kittatinny stole the ball back. There was 3:33 left in the game. Kittatinny tried to score, but was unable. Upon getting the ball back Glen Rock again used time on the clock and were fouled. They made one of the foul shots. Kittatinny was also fouled while they worked to get the ball back and they hit one foul shot. The score was then 37-33 and Kittatinny's Nicole Catella stole the ball and went in to attack the basket. She scored and drew the foul. She made the foul shot, helping Kittatinny to trail only by 1 point, 37-36. With 1:03 remaining the ball was given to Glen Rock's Lederer to break the press and she was fouled. She made both foul shots, 39-36. Kittatinny attempted to score again, but was unsuccessful.
