Receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award, Glen Campbell was honored by the Grammy Awards on Sunday night. Not only was Glen awarded the Lifetime Achievement, he also had the chance to perform his most well-known song, Rhinestone Cowboy. Changing the words slightly at the end to include women, he added the words, "Rhinestone Cow Girl."
Flashes of the camera to the audience showed one couple dancing, and other people singing along with Campbell. The performance was catchy and as good as he ever was. Diagnosed with the early stages of Alzheimers, it seemed as if many were holding their breath that Glen would not flub up. No worries, Glen performed as well as any of the other artists tonight. Glen also had his own band on stage, which includes three of his grown children.
At the beginning of his song he was introduced by Blake Shelton and the Band Perry with a tribute. The video to the left gives the performance in all its glory. Glen Campbell is himself a five time Grammy winner. Tonight, Glen proved his super star status. Holding the microphone out for others to sing along, our viewing room was already singing along with Glen. The words coming from the memory banks of years gone by, many viewers hoping that they will not go through the same memory loss that Glen has experienced.
Glen is a super star and his work is worth the Lifetime Achievement Award. The photos to the left reflect the performance of the video in the box below the slide show. As Bob Hope might say, "Thanks for the memories."
