According to the report, Cory Monteith’s death was just too big of a blow to the show’s original story line, and now a new plan has been devised to end the series next year after season 6.
“The final year of the show, which will be next year, was designed around Rachel (Lea Michele) and Finn’s (Cory Monteith) story,” Ryan Murphy said.
“I always knew that, I always knew how it would end. I knew what the last shot was – he was in it. I knew what the last line was – she said it to him. So when a tragedy like that happens you sort of have to pause and figure out what you want to do, so we’re figuring that out now,” Ryan added.
Lea Michele and Cory Monteith’s characters, Rachel Berry and Finn Hudson were always the backbone of the show, and had been the reason fans fell in love with the series to begin with.
With the devastating news of Monteith’s death last summer, the entire plan for the developing storyline was demolished.
This means that Ryan Murphy had the struggle of saying goodbye to one of his lead actors, and characters, as well as finding a way to end the show in a way the presents closure to the fans, even though it’s not the ending any of us wanted.
