‘Glee' star Naya Rivera gets married and changes her name

It has been a big year for “Glee” star Naya Rivera. The singer/actress tied the knot with her longtime friend Ryan Dorsey in an intimate ceremony held in Cabo San Lucas on Saturday according to the Hollywood Reporter on July 23.

Rivera’s rep confirmed the news. For those who need more proof this isn’t just a rumor running wild, check out Rivera’s Twitter account. She’s already changed her name there to Naya Rivera Dorsey.

The couple released a statement after the wedding. “We feel truly blessed to be joined as husband and wife," they said. "Our special day was fated and everything we could have ever asked for." That special day was attended by a few friends and family members only.

The wedding comes as a surprise to many. It was only 3 months ago that Rivera and rapper Big Sean broke off their engagement. From there, things seemed to go downhill for Rivera.

There were rumors of fighting between her and fellow “Glee” star Michele Lea. Reports that she’d been fired from the series and cut out of episodes that had already been shot followed.

Fortunately, she had Dorsey in her corner. She and the actor, who has appeared in episodes of "Southland," "Parks and Recreation" and "Mob City," have been friends for years. He was her rock during the tumultuous times that followed her breakup with Big Sean.

As for Naya’s stint on “Glee”, fans were thrilled to learn that it isn’t over yet. IN a report on Gossip Center in May, show creator Ryan Murphy put the rumors that she had been fired to rest, saying, "I don't think there is a story between Naya and Lea. Naya's coming back next year, Lea’s coming back next year – anybody ever in that cast has an open invitation to come back and finish the character they so beautifully started." That is good news!

Season 6 of “Glee” will air on Fox later in the 2014-15 season, coming in at midseason. Check back for updates as we get them.
