Hundreds of lucky fans got a chance to meet "Glee" star Chris Colfer as he stopped by Decatur's Little Shop of Stories as part of a promotional tour for his newly released novel, The Land of Stories: A Grimm Warning.
Fans young and old chatted excitedly as they waited their turn to have copies of Colfer's written works signed by the author, who is in the middle of a 12-city US tour for book 3 of his best-selling The Land of Stories series. Best known for his work as Kurt Hummel on the hit TV show "Glee", the actor has topped the New York Times Bestseller lists with the first book in the series, The Land of Stories: The Wishing Spell and the second book, The Land of Stories: The Enchantress Returns spent several weeks in the Top 10. He also wrote the book Stuck By Lightning, and wrote the screenplay for the film of the same name.
The Land of Stories follows two twins, Alex and Conner, as they are given a book of fairy tales and discover that the Land of Fairy Tales is indeed a real - and dangerous - place. Characters familiar to children from bedtime stories - Little Red Riding Hood, Snow White, The Evil Queen, Goldilocks - all make their appearances in the tales, but definitely not in the way we remember them as children. The characters have all grown up, and they have grown up sized problems to match.
Autographed copies of Colfer's works may still be available at the retailer; visit Little Shop of Stories' website for more information.
