On Monday, August 19 TVLine reported that singer Demi Lovato has been cast in the FOX comedy drama "Glee," as a friend of Rachel and Santana in New York City. Lovato will play the character Dani who is described as a "struggling artist" and will have a major episode arc in the upcoming season. Lovato will appear in at least six episodes of season five, and have several musical numbers.
Lovato is currently a judge on the television show "The X Factor" which will begin its third season this fall. The actress will film the episodes around her current television schedule. She last appeared on television on the Disney show "Sonny with a Chance" over two years ago as well as a few other television drama guest spots.
Lovato, who also has a background in music, has released four studio albums and opened for the likes of the Jonas Brothers and the Backstreet Boys. The musical numbers for her character will include fellow singer Adam Lambert, who will also appear in the upcoming season.
Lovato's character Dani will first appear in the October 3 episode of "Glee," which is the second episode of the tribute to The Beatles. "The X Factor" results show will air Thursday nights and lead into "Glee," so fans will be seeing a double dose of Demi for a few weeks in the fall. The show will begin airing new episodes on Thursday, September 26 at 9 p.m.
