It has finally been confirmed that “Glee’s” Lea Michelle really will be making an appearance on “Sons of Anarchy.” The news came earlier today from E! Online when they reported that the songbird would be joining the cast for a role on the hit motorcycle club show, now filming its final season.
Michelle will be playing Gertie. An FX rep explained the role as “an empathetic truck stop waitress and single mother, who connects with Gemma during a difficult time.” Hope someone tells Gertie how Gemma treats the females in her life – Wendy got overdosed and Tara got killed, to name a few.
It was Michelle herself who broke the news, sharing it on her Twitter account. "I'll be appearing on an episode of my favorite show @SonsofAnarchy! Thank you so much @Harparbar & @sutterink #SOAFX." The reference to @Harparbar is Paris Barclay, a director who has worked on both “Sons of Anarchy” and “Glee.”
There has been a previous crossover between the two shows. Katey Sagal, who is ‘SoA’ creator Kurt Sutter’s wife and the brilliant actress who plays Gemma, has appeared on “Glee” as the mom of Artie (Kevin McHale).
Michelle’s appearance on the show was rumored back in April. No confirmation was forthcoming at the time. Sutter tweeted prior to Comic Con that there was a casting announcement coming but shared nothing more. Michelle’s announcement appears to be the news he was referring to.
The “glee” star will join Courtney Love, Marilyn Manson and Walter Goggins as guest stars in the series seventh season. Love will play preschool teacher Ms. Harrison. Manson plays prison inmate Ron Tully. Goggins is reprising his role as Venus Van Damme.
There were rumors that “Breaking Bad’s” Paul Aaron might be joining the cast. We wonder if that rumor will confirmed soon too or it really was just a rumor. Makes you wonder.
Sons of Anarchy's final ride kicks off Tuesday, Sept. 9 at 10 p.m. on FX. “Sons of Anarchy” is currently filming Season 7, its final season. The premiere will air on Sept. 6 on FX. Check out the full interview above.
