Glee's Chris Colfer talks about coming out and working out on 'Chelsea Lately'

Glee's gay actor Chris Colfer ("Kurt Hummel") tackles more than just challenging musical routines in the hit TV series and while visiting Chelsea Handler this week talked about his role on the show, coming out in real life and working out.

"Your character on the show is gay and we know that you're gay," Chelsea said to the 19-year-old actor. 

"You know what my answer to that question was prior to coming out," Colfer said. "Was that I was as straight as every other actor in Hollywood."

Chris hung out on the set of the show and even brought along real-life friend and co-star Cory Monteith. 

As Chelsea skipped along over chit-chat topics like prank calls, peeing in the pants and reacting to the paparazzi, she moved on to Chris' workout routine.

"You work out?" Chelsea asked, to which Colfer responded, "Unfortunately." Adding, "I was really, really overweight in high school, so I actually lost 40 pounds before my senior year of high school."

Much like fellow singing celeb, Adam Lambert who used to weight 250 pounds, Chris admitted to wanting to lose the weight and kept that as his motivation to workout.

Of his secret weight loss tricks, Chris says it was "horrible, horrible methods - Diet and exercise". Colfer confessed to going to the gym for two hours every day to lose the high school weight and eating healthy stuff, he said with a grimace, "like carrots".

In order to maintain his weight loss, Chris keeps up with consistent cardio to stay in a shape he dubbs "a lean figure".
