Fox celebrated the talented women of their network with an all-star panel for their “Girl’s Night Out” event. One of the women attending the panel was network favorite was Emmy winner Jane Lynch, who plays Sue Sylvester on the hit show “Glee.” Also joining Sylvester on the panel were Alex Borstein (Family Guy), Mindy Kaling (“The Mindy Project”), Chelsea Peretti (“Brooklyn Nine-Nine”), Yeardley Smith (“The Simpsons”), Liz Meriwether (“New Girl”) and Heather Kadin (“Sleepy Hollow”). The panel was introduced with a sizzle reel clip featuring "So You Think You Can Dance" host Cat Deeley. Deeley was unable to attend the night to due to scheduling conflicts.

Highlights of the night included Lynch talked about the difficulty the cast had in continuing with the series after Cory Monteith’s death. Finn, who Monteith portrayed for four season until his death last year, was the heart and soul of the show. "Glee" enters its sixth and final season this fall.

“In the choir room, we have a photograph of Finn with one of the funny lines that he said,” Lynch told the near sold out audience. “So we see him every day. I think he had such a big part in why this show is such a hit and it’s really, really difficult. Everybody gets through it in their own way, but there is a huge gaping hole in the show.”

The actress also confirmed that the show's final episodes will send the cast back to Lima, Ohio after featuring its main storylines in New York last season. When asked what her favorite highlights of the past year were for her character Sue Sylvester, Lynch sites the “Opening Night” episode. Sue traveled to New York for Rachel’s Broadway debut of "Funny Girl" where Sue sang and also fell in love.

When addressing the theme of the night, Lynch had this to say. “It’s a good time for women in television, maybe not so much in films right now,” she said. “If you run down Sunset Boulevard and look at billboards for films, it’s all men with guns and a woman in the background looking worried for them.”

When talking about challenges in Hollywood for women, Kaling piggy-backed on Lynch’s comment by joking about how hard it is for her to get movie roles like “the woman in the background that is worried about them.”

“Glee” returns for its sixth and final season this fall on FOX.
