Cory Monteith, “Glee” star, has been open about his substance abuse in past and has decided to do something about it. Monteith has checked himself into a treatment facility for substance addiction, according to E! News on March 31.
Monteith has said he hoped that his being open about his substance abuse would help others who are struggling. In a 2011 interview, Monteith admitted he was lucky in so many ways and opened up about his roller coaster ride he went through after dropping out school at the age of 16.
Monteith’s current girlfriend, costar Lea Michele, is very supportive of his decision to check himself into rehab. Michele released a statement showing her support.
“I love and support Cory and will stand by him though this. I am grateful and proud he made this decision.”
Moteith’s “Glee” family is supportive as well and released the following statement.
“Cory is a beloved member of the “Glee” family and we fully support his decision to seek treatment. Everyone at the show wishes him well and looks forward to his return.”
Cory Monteith’s voluntary rehab stay will not affect the shooting of the last two episodes of “Glee” this season, according to a source. Hopefully Monteith will get the help he needs and make a full recovery.
