This past Wednesday, the cast of Glee were honored guests on The Oprah Show. Ms. Winfrey jumped on the "Gleek" bandwagon and dedicated the whole hour to cast interviews, a musical number and some behind the scenes goodness.
With an audience filled with fans, Glee's famous students took to the stage to perform Somebody to Love. Even Oprah herself could be seen bopping along to Hollywood's newest sensation. Next, Oprah transformed her stage to the set of the choir room from Glee's McKinley High. With upbeat interviews from star Lea Michele (Rachel), America's newest heartthrob Matthew Morrison (Mr. Schuster) and the lady everyone loves to hate, Jane Lynch (Sue Sylvester), Oprah left no Glee stone unturned.
Along with behind the scenes footage, which included looks at what the cast's day is like while learning new dances, Oprah featured a show choir from Burbank, CA. Some of the Glee cast members surprised the John Burroughs high school students, informing them that they would be headed to Chicago to be on the show. The choir, decked out in period costumes and makeup, put on an amazing show to Madonna's Vogue and 4 Minutes. Being the generous lady she is, Oprah also informed the school that they would be receiving a brand new piano and a check for $100,000 to help with their program funding.
The show was upbeat and refreshing. The cast appeared to be having just as much fun on stage as they did off, watching the choir kids. The cast has had a busy week, which also included a stop at The White House. The spring premiere of Glee airs Tuesday, April 13 after American Idol.
