Glass Academy holding its 1st-ever Tri-Show this Saturday

The Glass Academy will be holding its Tri-Show 2013 this weekend. The free 10 a.m.-4 p.m. event will be the first one ever to celebrate Mardi Gras, Valentine's Day and Chinese New Year in combination, according to Glass Academy Gallery Design Manager Melissa Byle.

“Last year, we held them as three separate events,” Byle said. “This year, we decided to hold as a joint event Valentines' Day, Chinese New Year and Mardi Gras.”

Besides an assortment of glass, she said, the show will also feature glass blowing and live demonstrations of piecing dragons together. The Jan. 9 event will also include an extra preview of the next Glass Academy show, which Byle said will have an Easter Egg theme. Every piece of glass shown at the event will be for sale; she said; such as the fire snake, or hurricane glasses for the Mardi Gras Warmup drinking vessels exhibit.
