The glamour and excitement of the Academy Awards Red Carpet will be televised prior to the awards presentation, on Oscars Red Carpet Live. Hosting the red carpet event for the 84th Academy Awards will be Robin Roberts, Tim Gunn, Louise Roe, Jess Cagle and Nina Garcia. The red carpet event, airing one hour before the awards, will be the only broadcast from the red carpet. The program, which airs on Sunday, February 26, 2012, starts at 4:00 p.m. PM, 7:00 p.m. ET, according to February 13, 2012, press release from ABC.
Robin Roberts is well known as the co-anchor of ABC's Good Morning America. In her second year of hosting the red carpet broadcast, Roberts will conduct interviews from the the main pre-show stage on Oscar Night®.
Fashion experts Tim Gunn and Nina Garcia are castmates on the Emmy nominated design series Project Runway (Project Runway pictures from the Runway). Tim Gunn is the chief creative officer at Liz Claiborne Inc. and currently stars in the ABC Network's new daytime talk show, The Revolution ( The Revolution about transforming lives). Nina Garcia is the fashion director for Marie Claire. The two will interview celebrities and share red carpet fashion commentary.
Louise Roe, the fashion editor-at-large for Glamour hosts her own makeover show, Plain Jane, on MTV International. Roe will interview celebrities as they arrive on the red carpet.
Jess Cagle, editor of Entertainment Weekly, has covered Hollywood news for 25 years. Cagle will be stationed backstage where he will conduct exclusive behind-the-scenes interviews as the 84th Academy Awards unfolds.
