Hundreds of special guests witnessed the opening of Baltimore Maryland's newest playground, Horseshoe Baltimore, on Tuesday, August 26th.

This space, which formerly housed a number of warehousing facilities for businesses, covers 122,000 square feet, a 7 tier garage facility, a hotel, and some 2,500 slot machines.

At a cost of 442 million, who is who were at the grand opening, with speeches by Governor Martin O'Malley, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, and Dan Gilbert, owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers,(Lebron James), he is also Chairman of Rock Gaming, and a principal with Quicken Loans, ( now a major investor in Baltimore Horseshoe).

Horseshoe Casino Baltimore is controlled by Caesars Growth Partners, LLC., and the project was completed on time, from groundbreaking on May 29, 2013. Two thousand construction jobs, in that short a span, with now 1700 permanent casino jobs.

Former Pittsburgh Steelers superstar, Lynn Swann was on hand to endorse the investment. Swann a former candidate for Governor of Pennsylvania in 2006, ran as a Republican.

The Opening took place outdoors, with acrobats dancing to music on the walls of the Casino/hotel. Mayor Rawlings-Blake pulled the giant slot lever as banners streamed down the sides of the buildings, graffiti fell like raindrops on onlookers, and fireworks exploded a hundred feet in the air.

As the doors swung open, above was the dazzling chandelier, while below, enthusiastic employees danced to the music of Gladys Knight on stage, way up high, alight like the tubes of a pipe organ in a cathedral. She sang all her favorites before exiting, and then it was time for the general public, who were lined up to try their luck. (More later).
