Glacier View Landscape and Design, Inc. in Erie Colorado has taken great pride in developing a social media platform that is designed to keep past, present and future customers engaged in their landscape design and installation decisions. Glacier View’s approach with social media has not been to garner new customers per se, but that has been some of the results of our endeavor. Instead, Glacier View has wanted to provide as many platforms as possible for our customers to view pictures of unique, one-off projects that they can apply to their own landscapes, and to showcase the capabilities of our landscape design and installation teams. As well, our social media platforms allow current customers to stay in contact with their projects if they happen to be out of town while our teams are working on their installation. Glacier View’s Facebook page has been the go-to platform for updating our clients on current projects as it remains the simplest way to upload pictures in a project album format. We use both Facebook and Twitter to update our clients on the status of rain and snowfall or moisture conditions in the areas we service, since moisture is such a key part of landscape success in our arid region of the US. We provide “East Boulder County Moisture Updates” every 24 hours when rain or snow is falling and that, in turn, helps our customers to gauge whether to turn off automatic irrigation systems, winter water, or adjust their watering schedules accordingly. This “East Boulder County Moisture Update” really applies to any of the towns we service, from Brighton, Louisville, Westminster, Broomfield, Boulder, Erie, Niwot, Superior, Longmont, Lafayette, Frederick and Gunbarrel to all points in between in unincorporated Boulder County. We also use social media to provide winter watering reminders and guidelines because proper winter watering is one of the most important contributors to a plant’s success in the following spring and summer months.
Facebook and Twitter have been the initial platforms of choice, but Glacier View is also using Google+, YouTube, Pintrest, LinkedIn and Houzz, as well as providing an opportunity for our users to post their own information directly from our website on Tumblr, StumbleUpon, Delicious, Reddit, and MySpace. Glacier View maintains a LinkedIn Group page to discuss topics related to landscape design and installation, as well as personal pages for the CEO on both Facebook and LinkedIn that are readily accessible from the website. The website has links to all the social media platforms we use, including a “Featured On Houzz” button.
Nothing helps new customers make decisions about what they would like to see in their landscape more than pictures, so all our social media platforms focus on providing original content and pictures of landscapes that Glacier View created. We never use packaged media pictures, or buy landscape photos from photo vendors. We want our customers to see the exact types of projects Glacier View has worked on successfully in the past. And occasionally, customers have helped prepare media for presentation. One customer set up a time lapse video recorder to tape his patio construction. That video can be seen on Glacier View’s YouTube channel. Go find us on social media through our website at www.glacierviewlandscape.com and see what we have to offer. And lastly, our social media presence has helped our company stay on top of major search engine results pages so it is easy for our customers to find us. Glacier View wanted to maximize our use of social media. We expected to work hard to keep the sites up to date, but more importantly, we were prepared to see results as customers appreciated our dedication to the landscape trade and to present our work in a clear and concise manner.
