'Glacier Blast' software trademark filed by Mircosoft (Photos)

Microsoft has filed a trademark application for a software called "Glacier Blast" with the US Patent and Trademark Office. It is unknown exactly what this software is but the application was uncovered by AllGamesBeta.com and reported by joystiq.com. The application identifies the product as "Game software" and the only other information, besides contacts, indicates that Microsoft paid the $275 application fee.

Whois.com also indicates that the domain glacierblastgame.com has been registered by Microsoft as well, indicating that this software is a game and not any other type of utility or app. The domain was secured in late March. Most likely, the software is a new IP (independent property) for the Xbox console maker.

A lack of console exclusives is one of the weaknesses for Xbox in the upcoming console war between the Playstation 4 and the next-gen Xbox, so it would be of little surprise to anyone if this "Glacier Blast" is a new exclusive title for the upcoming "Durango."
