The holidays are right around the corner and it is time to give thanks to our seniors but remember to give thanks all of the time. They are the glue that holds us all together. Without them we would not have the old memories and stories that they can only tell us. I want to give special thanks to a man that we all called “Pop”.
He was only in my life for 6 years but there were so many special memories in that time. His name was Patrick Johnson and he was a warm and caring man and he was also a friend to everyone.
He would sit and tell us about when he was a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne and about being stationed in Africa. We would sit and listen for as long as he would talk. He was from Clarkson, Kentucky but after he got out of the service he raised his family in Louisville. Pop was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and father-in-law.
We lost him in December, 2007 but he will always be in our memories and hearts. He loved the country and moved his family back there when the children were in high school. Some of his family still reside in Louisville.
