Today through Sunday, bartenders around the world are being asked to take part in the second annual Just One Shift by donating their tips (partially or whole) from one shift to raise funds for Wine To Water. WineToWater builds wells for the 1 billion people around the world without clean water, which causes the death of a child every 20 seconds. The money goes a long way – $40,000 can save 40,000 people from death by water-borne illness for a whole year.
Last year, 327 bartenders from around the world raised more than $40,000 in the first Just One Shift program. This year, the goal is to raise $100,000 for Wine To Water in the next week.
The first shift will kick off at 7 pm today at The Dead Rabbit, with guest bartender Gaz Regan. Gaz has promised that once the goal is reached, he will shave his notorious wavy hair. Visit the Just One Shift website to find a bartender near you who is participating in the great cause. A great cocktail deserves a great tip, so pony up that extra special tip and donate to those who really need it! Cheers!
