Cornerstones, formerly Reston Interfaith, is a nonprofit organization that promotes self-sufficiency by providing support and advocacy for those in need of food, shelter, affordable housing, quality childcare, and other human services. Each year they host numerous seasonal drives two of which you can contribute to immediately.
Holiday gift drive for kids
Each year Cornerstones’ staff works with parents and children of all ages in their programs to create their own holiday wish lists for families.
Last year over 1,500 local children in need received gifts through the program. This year they are again providing Holiday Gifts for Kids in our area. Each Wish List contains up to 3 wishes totaling $50 – $65 per child.
For more information on this drive contact email@example.com or 571.323.9568.
Winter Coat Closet
When winter comes, many of our neighbors struggle to purchase hats, coats, and gloves for themselves and their families. Each year from November to March, Cornerstones and Hunter Mill Supervisor Catherine Hudgins operate the Hunter Mill Winter Coat Closet that provides warm coats for men, women, and children. They accept new and gently used winter coats, hats, gloves, and scarves and all child and adult sizes (XL & XXL are especially needed). Donations are accepted through February 28, 2014.
You can donate coats to:
North County Government Center
Community Room at the Hunter Mill District Supervisor’s Office
