Rethreaded, located in downtown Jacksonville in a small warehouse at 820 Barnett Street near Beaver Street, is training women who have been abused and /or endangered by the sex trade. This nonprofit is working to break the cycle of the sex trade in our community by investing in the freedom and independence of their employees. Training is funded for women to go through a three-month training to receive job and life kills, such as sewing, nutrition, budgeting, and computer literacy. Some of this funding came this year’s One Spark 2013.
They now have a booth at the Riverside Arts Market every Saturday, featuring their upcycled line made by the employees in Jacksonville. Here they will sell market bags and fall clothing for kids.
Their children's clothing line is now also featured in Natural Life’s retail store in the Avenues Mall, giving their products and stories an even wider audience in Jacksonville. Here you can find "Joy" Skirts, "Hope" Play Pants, "Dream" Ditty Bags, and "Freedom" Play Pants.
In addition there is still an Open Warehouse every Wednesday from 1:00-5:00pm at the Barnet Street location.
Saturday, November 16th is their Grace Holiday Sale at the warehouse from 10:00-4:00pm. Raffle tickets for a $75 gift basket will be on sale for just $3; the drawing will be at 3:00pm.
