The mission of the Boys and Girls Club in St. Augustine is to encourage and enable young people, especially the underprivileged in our community, to recognize their full potential. The club provides affordable programs along with caring mentors, serving youth ages 5-18 with after school and summer camp programs. They also offer field trips and help provide school supplies.
Programs are offered in five core areas: education and career development, health and life skills, the arts, sports, fitness and recreation, and character and leadership development. On a typical afternoon after school, kids will have free time, committed homework time, and then a choice of activities. During the summer, members take part in community service projects, play outdoor games, and attend day-long field trips.
A recent study conducted by Florida TaxWatch found that Boys & Girls Clubs' members were absent from school half as often as their comparison group.
