November is the time we think of giving and Thanksgiving. This is the first in a month-long series about charities and other non-profit organizations in the northeast Florida area.
Kids Bridge provides a safe, neutral, supervised home-like setting for the maintenance of family relationships during times of separation due to issues such as divorce, domestic violence, and abuse allegations. Prior to its existence, children and families in crisis a safe place to participate in court-ordered supervised visits. Often, children caught in the middle of hostile custody conflicts were forced to be exchanged in fast food restaurants or school parking lots, which often led to arguments or altercations. Kids Bridge is the answer.
Located at 238 San Marco Ave. in St. Augustine, the hours of operation are: Tuesday 9-5, Wednesday - Friday 9-7, Saturday 9-1 and Sunday 1-6.
Dennis T. Glavin is the new Director of Development. He has lived in northeast Florida for 30 years and has worked pro bono with Kids Bridge for almost ten years. He has more than 25 years of experience in marketing and business development for a range of professional service firms, nation-wide. He is excited to be teaming up with SACSPA for the Dancing Stars of St. Johns County fundraising event in January.
This fundraiser will be held January 18 at 6:00pm at 180 Marine Street in St. Augustine. The gala includes a silent auction, dinner by A1A Ale Works, and the dance competition. Local celebrities will be paired with dance instructors to perform two songs for a panel of judges.
Proceeds from this fundraiser will help to initiate ‘Healing Arts’, a new enrichment program for child visitations. Healing Arts is an on-site supervised art class that will provide an opportunity for non-custodial parents to strengthen the relationship with their child in a safe and positive atmosphere. In this program, art will be used as a relationship-building tool.
