Bioware hasn’t revealed any details regarding the next Mass Effect game other than that they are currently working on the title and that it will introduce a new series’ protagonist, but it is almost certain that the game will release on next-gen consoles. Giving gamers a glimpse into how a next-gen Mass Effect game might look, a Gameranx report from March 27 revealed one fan’s attempt to update the series’ visuals by importing assets from the franchise original trilogy into Epic’s new Unreal Engine 4.

While the models themselves are still the same as appeared on last-gen hardware, bringing the assets into the more detailed world and allowing the new engine’s power to fully render lighting and shadow effects on the characters makes a big improvement and offers fans a small showing of what they might expect in the upcoming Mass Effect game.

There is currently no release date set for the next Mass Effect title. Bioware has stated that they are more interested in making the game right rather than making it fast.
