Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.” (John 4:10

Water, H2O, is essential for life. Humans, animals, and plants need sufficient amounts of water to live. Insufficiency causes dehydration (loss of water), dryness, and can have serious consequences. Water is very significant to people as it is part of over 50% of the body composition. People can get water from a couple of sources such as food and drink that they consume. Water intake is proportioned to height and weight of the individual. Men need on average about 13 cups (8 oz.) while women will need less. Also, one must be aware of the ways water is lost and adjust these conditions.

God states the need for a different kind of water. Jesus spoke and called it, “living water.” This type of water is to quench the spiritual thirst of the recipient. Every person is made in God’s image and have a spiritual side. The spiritual side desires to worship and can be found around the world in different nations, peoples, and languages. Jesus is the only fulfillment to spiritual thirst. He promised that His worshippers would not experience insufficiency and suffer death as a consequence for the lack of spiritual water. He or she will live eternally.

This water of life is available to all who believer. God does not withhold it, but He gives the Holy Spirit freely to all who ask. Believers receive the “living water” and have eternal life in them.

Believer, your faith in Jesus has forever quenched your spiritual thirst. The Holy Spirit flows through you!
