If you’re excited to energize and revitalize Baltimoreans, then come out and volunteer for the next Day of Hope on Saturday, August 23.

Spurn from a positive alliance between the Baltimore city police department, community leaders and churches, the Day of Hope is a promising event lauding change in the city of Baltimore.

Lieutenant Colonel Melvin Russell, a 30-plus years member of the Baltimore City Police Department, is instrumental in empowering the community. He is often seen rallying Baltimoreans to have a vested interest in their social welfare, a trait most evident in his efforts in the non-profit collaborative The Transformation Team.

During an in-person interview held earlier this year at the Justice Conference, a leadership summit spearheaded by World Relief Organization, Lt. Col. Melvin Russell explained how he and his “brother from another mother” Pastor Matt Stevens, Founder of Somebody Cares Baltimore, join forces to improve the streets of Baltimore one family at a time.

“What do you think are the busiest days for crime in the city of Baltimore? Saturday? Friday night? No. The busiest day is Sunday afternoon followed by Tuesday” noted Lt. Col. Russell, as he detailed the reality of the world that exists beyond cobblestone streets and picket fences.

This thought-provoking anecdote resounded as a blaring alarm of the need for community convocation to sow seeds of new opportunities into existence.

Give hope on the Day of Hope.

Become an integral part of our community as you volunteer in the Day of Hope, a free, fun-filled, educational and encouraging event.

Everyone can benefit from the Day of Hope, an event complete with free groceries, on-the-house haircuts and ‘glad to help’ advice.

For the kids, there are bounce houses, games and refreshments. Most of all, the Day of Hope offers informative resources providing residents with tools needed to flourish and/or thrive.
