Allison Williams (star of HBO's Girls) told The Today show that she has wanted to play Peter Pan since she a little girl. Now that she's "all grownup," her wish has come true. The first photo from NBC's upcoming telecast of "Peter Pan Live!" shows the actress in costume as the boy who won't grow up.

This isn't the first time Williams has dressed up like the boy who refuses to grow up. Williams posted a childhood photo to her Instagram of her dressed up like Pan.

Williams is the the daughter of "Nightly News" anchor Brian Williams. She is well-known for her role of Marnie Michaels on the HBO series "Girls." "Peter Pan Live!" executive producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron remarked that Williams was a "major find" for this special.

"She will reinvent the iconic role of Peter Pan with her wit, her warmth, her dynamic flying and her wonderful musical abilities," Zadan and Meron stated confidently.

Williams was so excited to get into her role, in the style of a method actor, she even told the crew she would chop off her long locks. "I sort of very tentatively offered to cut my hair, I was like, 'You know, if it's a thing that would help I could cut my hair,'" she said. Gracious for her offer, the crew declined. Williams went on to say:"And they were like, 'You're welcome to do that, we're still gonna put you in a wig.'"

Fans of Williams will have to wait until December to catch Williams in flight. "Peter Pan Live!" will air Dec. 4 on NBC.
