For 2013, The Girl Scouts of the USA have re-designed their unique Cookie Finder app. I can already taste those Thin Mints.
With National Girl Scouts Cookie Day (February 8, 2013), right around the corner, this app is a must if you haven't been approached by any Girl Scouts to buy cookies.
From the Girls Scouts, a description of their new app:
The days of waiting patiently for a cookie-peddling Girl Scout to find you are no more. The Cookie Finder app will automatically use your phone’s GPS to find where and when Girl Scout cookies are being sold. Users can also save cookie sales to their calendars or get the word out to others using Facebook, Twitter, and email. The app provides information about the various cookies sold and allows users to vote for favorite cookies (Thin Mints, Samoas, Tagalongs, Trefoils, Lemonades, and the newest flavor, Mango Crèmes).
Changes to the app include rebranding/re-skinning of the app to closely resemble the design of girlscoutcookies.org and a new focus on program aspects, including the How to Buy Cookies section as well as the 5 Skills section, which explores the skills that help girls become both leaders and entrepreneurs: goal setting, decision making, money management, business ethics and people skills. There have been significant UI improvements as well.
The Girls Scouts are excited about this app, and the fact that customers will now be able to find them to get their favorite cookies.
