Teen-aged girls from throughout Arkansas are registering Friday in Bentonville to compete in the 2013 Miss Arkansas Teen USA Pageant.
Preliminary competitions in swimsuit and evening gown are scheduled for Saturday.
Semifinalists will be announced before a final night of pageantry on Sunday.
Winner of the pageant will represent Arkansas at the 2013 Miss Teen USA Pageant. In recent years, the teen pageant has been webcast live from the Bahamas during the summer.
The teen pageant is affiliated with the Miss Universe and Miss USA pageants, which are co-owned by Donald Trump and NBC Universal.
The reigning Miss Arkansas Teen USA 2012 is Amber Mitchell.
"Amber believes and promotes the fact that if God will bring you to it, He will bring you through it," her pageant biography states. "When she was only 17 years old she had a tumor removed in her breast. She hopes to promote breast cancer awareness throughout her reign. She is looking forward to being the best possible representative she can be and getting wonderful opportunities to volunteer for and promote causes."
She studies broadcast journalism at Pulaski Tech.
