The girl who flipped off a judge in Florida returned to court this week and it's no surprise to report that she was far more humble than she was in the appearance that quickly became a viral video clip. Penelope Soto, 18, was in court on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, and she didn't dare mutter the obscenities she once hurled on Monday. She faced a different judge and stood, subdued, chewing on her lip quietly -- and she only spoke when she was spoken to like she should have behaved on Monday.
The news affiliate that covered this latest update tried to get in touch with Soto's mother to find out just where she learned her behavior, but to no surprise she was not available to answer questions or comment -- undoubtedly embarrassed at the public spectacle her daughter has become. Not only is Penelope Soto the talk of Miami-Dade, but she is an international internet sensation as is the judge who gave her the much needed attitude adjustment in return for her insubordinate behavior.
The source also reports that even if Penelope completes her drug court -- for illegal possession of Xanax -- she may still have to complete the sentencing for her criminal contempt charge. In fact, the only judge who can overturn the contempt charge is the judge she flipped off in the first place. That means she better be minding her Ps and Qs if she wants that judge to have a change of heart -- and who knows, maybe he will? She is only 18-years-old, after all, and kids make mistakes.
It's no doubt that she's learning a lesson from hers!
