I know in many of my articles I have written about community service projects either my troop or another troop in my service unit has done. This time I am going to share some ideas of things to do and I am hoping to hear back from you! I want to know what your troop has done and if you would like, I will do a story about your troop.
We all know that Girl Scouts are supposed to do at least one service project every year. That is nothing for your average troop. My troop does a minimum of 10-12 different service projects, some that are easy like bringing toothbrushes or socks to a council event, or as big as our plan to have a sister troop in Mozambique. Anything you do is awesome and important. Never think your project is too small. You never know what might really change a life. Here are just a few ideas (mostly Orange County, Inland Empire and L.A. County) and contacts for you to start with. Then I would love to hear your stories.
- Ronald McDonald House
- CHOC Hospital
- Caring For Orphans Mozambique
- Spin
- Hope Services
- Mary's Kitchen
- Operation Gratitude
- Chuck Jones Center For Creativity
- Friends of Orange County Homeless Pets
- Council for Aging
- Orangewood Childrens Home
Please look into any these places and find one that works for you or please come up with your own. Let me know what you have done and have a story about you written right here. Email me at gotcookies499@aol.com
