Girl Scout pot club: Clever Scout sells cookies by weed dispensary, hits it big

A very clever Girl Scout selling cookies by a pot club took advantage of people’s munchies and hit it big outside of the medical marijuana dispensary this week. In fact, says 13-year-old Girl Scout Danielle Lei, she completely sold all of her cookies in a massive sale in less than 45 minutes. SF Gate News shares this Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, that there is some controversy surrounding these young girls selling products so close to a “weed store,” but the Girl Scouts of North California sees no issue with this smart marketing tactic.

The Girl Scout pot club maneuver began when Danielle Lei, only 13 years old, thought it would be a smart idea to set up her cookie selling table outside of a medical marijuana dispensary in San Francisco called the Green Cross. Apparently knowing her customers quite well and the case of the munchies that weed can sometimes bring, the clever Girl Scout hit it big in returns after selling every single box of cookies in under an hour.

“They get very hungry after!” she told a local news station outside the Green Cross.

According to the press release on this savvy marketing move and certainly picking a successful Girl Scout pot club site:

“When the Girl Scouts set-up shop outside The Green Crossstorefront yesterday, little did they know they'd need to call for back-up Girl Scout Cookies after 45 minutes! It's all about location and it's safe to say this one was a great success. We're excited to have them back again soon and will keep our members posted!”

While the Girl Scouts of Northern California have alleged that their state’s organization has no issue whatsoever with their young girls taking advantage of people’s hunger outside of medical marijuana dispensaries like the Green Cross, not everyone else agrees. The Girl Scouts of Colorado, for instance — in a state where the limited use of recreational marijuana is now fully legal — do not encourage nor allow their members to sell outside these “weed stores” or marijuana dispensaries.

Reads an official tweet from the Colorado Girl Scouts on Twitter this week after rumors began to circulate:

"If you are wondering, we don't allow our Girl Scouts to sell cookies in front of marijuana shops or liquor stores/bars."
