A nine-year-old girl gave birth to a baby girl and authorities today are looking for the 17-year-old father of the child, who reportedly ran away. According to the Daily Mail on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2013 the girl, known to the media as Dafne, had no idea what happened.
This has led the Mexican authorities to believe the young girl was raped, because she doesn’t understand what happened. Jorge Villasenor, who is from the the state prosecutor’s office said, “This is a rape or child sex abuse case,” because the young girl “doesn’t understand what has happened.”
Dafne gave birth to a baby girl weighing 5.95 lbs on Jan. 27. She was born in Zapopan, Mexico’s western Jalisco state at Zoquipan Hospital. While the father of the baby is identified, he is nowhere to be found today, but the police investigation continues in hopes of finding his whereabouts.
According to the Daily Mail, the girl was just over eight-years-old at the time she conceived this baby. The police say they want to find the father so they can get his story because the girl doesn’t understand what has happened.
Both mother and daughter were released from the hospital over the weekend, but an extensive follow-up is planned for both because this new mother is so young, she’s just a child herself.
