It is very likely that the regular profile pictures that you are accustomed to seeing from your Facebook friends have been replaced by strange images of giraffes. Why is this, you may ask? A guessing game in which logical reasoning is to blame for the sudden giraffe photo trend. The giraffe riddle game goes like this: If you guess the answer, then you'll be safe, but if you fail, your punishment will be to change your Facebook profile picture to the image of a giraffe. As reported by the Chicago Tribune today, here's one giraffe riddle:
"It’s 3 a.m., the doorbell rings and you wake up. Unexpected visitors! It’s your parents and they are here for breakfast. You have strawberry jam, honey, wine, bread and cheese. What is the first thing you open?"
Many have found that the answer to the giraffe riddle is not as obvious as it seems. Giraffe riddle rules state that one must message their response to the original poster instead of revealing the answer in the comments section. If you get the giraffe riddle incorrect, you must repost the riddle with the same instructions after you change your profile to a giraffe photo of your choosing. If you answer the giraffe riddle correctly, you will receive recognition via comment tag.
Although the giraffe riddle is really not that hard, many people must be having difficulty solving it seeing as though the number of giraffe photos has grown considerably in the last few days.
It doesn't seem as if there is an an apparent link to a cause associated with the giraffe riddle challenge, just something fun and different.
